Business Wire, Nov 03, 2009
Rob Lamkin Will Discuss Utility-Scale Concentrated Photovoltaic
building site clean up Technology and Market Opportunity
LIVERMORE, Calif. — Cool Earth Solar, a utility-scale solar company that provides clean
energy at prices competitive with traditional fossil fuels, today
announced that CEO Rob Lamkin has been selected to speak as part of the
Clean Energy Entrepreneurs pitch at the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory (NREL) Industry Growth Forum in Denver, Colorado, November
3-5, 2009. After a competitive review of 285 applications, Cool Earth
Solar was one of only 34 companies selected to present at this years
event.
Who: Rob Lamkin, CEO of Cool Earth Solar
What: Clean Energy Entrepreneur pitch
Where: Grand Denver Hyatt, 1750 Welton Street, Denver, Colo. 80202
When: Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. PT
Lamkins discussion will provide a thought-provoking assessment of the
future of solar energy. He will identify key hurdles that must be
overcome for solar to reach its potential as an economically viable
energy resource that can largely displace fossil fuels as the primary
global energy source.
Cool Earth Solar has created a breakthrough concentrated photovoltaic
(CPV) technology that massively scales to meet the world’s power demands
at prices competitive with traditional fossil fuels. Unlike most solar
systems that require large amounts of heavy, expensive materials, Cool
Earth Solars inflated CPV technology is primarily made of ordinary
thin-film plastic and air. When inflated, Cool Earth Solars
concentrator naturally forms a shape that focuses sunlight onto a PV
cell and magnifies it by up to 400 times. This design generates the same
amount of electricity as traditional flat-panel PV systems while using
up to 300 to 400 times less solar cell material.
About NREL and the Industry Growth Forum
NREL is the U.S. Department of Energys primary national laboratory for
renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development. NREL is
operated for the DOE by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, LLC.
NREL pioneered its Industry Growth Forum in 1995 and today it is one of
the nations premier clean energy investment forums. The 2009 Forum will
feature 34 clean energy companies presenting business plans and growth
strategies in technologies including fuel cells, hydrogen, wind, energy
efficiency, photovoltaics, biofuels and energy storage. Its rich
educational content distinguishes NRELs Growth Forums and leaves all
participants, including entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and corporate
investors, with a deeper understanding of the evolving energy market and
what a business must do to thrive. For more information, please visit http://www.cleanenergyforum.com/
