HUNDREDS of people turned out to support a new Darlington music festival featuring dozens of bands.
More than 50 bands played across six different venues for GroundedFest yesterday.
The festival began at 1pm and continued until midnight.
The line-up was a mixture of local talent, as well as a few bands who are up-and-coming on the national music scene.
The headline act was Eighties Matchbox B-line Disaster, a Brighton band, who have played many of the major festivals, including Glastonbury, Leeds and Reading.
They finished the festival on stage at Inside Out, in Beaumont Street.
Other venues included Seen, the Tap and Spile and the Grange.
The festival was the idea of 21-year old advertising student Ruby Sommer, who helped organise the event alongside David Young, 18, and Justin Ramsden, 19.
It is hoped the festival will become an annual happening and will grow to be an important date on the North-East music calendar.
Proceeds from the festival will go to the Save the Forum campaign, which aims to keep The Forum music centre, in Borough Road, Darlington, open.
The centre was threatened with closure because of difficulties obtaining a loan from Darlington Borough Council.
